AAA Winter Season

Madison Capitols AAA Winter Season Teams are sanction by USA Hockey & WAHA as a Tier 1 Organization that offers a higher level of training and coaching that is unavailable to youth hockey players in our area.

Madison Capitols AAA Winter Seasons offers a unique player experience, where players have the opportunity to compete against some of the best players across North America. It's a very serious commitment of both time and resources, we understand that and strive to match that commitment to you and the program. The commitment to AAA hockey requires being on the ice 3-6 days per week (depending on the age), extensive travel/additional costs due to travel and a larger financial commitment then association.

But, for that commitment your player will receive so much more in on & off-ice skill development, and they'll mature as a young person in ways that you as a parent will be proud of. Our coaches have played or coached at some of the highest levels of competition and all of them have played and/or coached at the ages Most AAA teams will play anywhere from 45 to 65 games each seasons and some may play some additional games at WAHA Tier 1 State, USA Hockey Central District Regionals or USA Hockey National Championships. All teams have a minimum of full-ice, individual team practices every week. Our older boy's have an additional practice each week. If times open up on weekends or during the week throughout the season coaches will add those practices on a individual team basis.

In addition to a teams practices; goalies will have the opportunity to work with our goaltending coach in two on-ice, goalie specific practice sessions each month. Teams will have the opportunity to have two on-ice skills and/or power skater sessions with our skills coach Dominic Zombo or our Power Skating coach Amy Claggett. 

Legacy20 Gym is our gym that's located on the second floor of the arena. Our workouts are run by Jason Johnson, he puts our players through a 45 min, hockey specific off-ice training session. Working on speed, agility, strength & core development.  Our co-ed teams have one session each week either prior to their individual team practice. Our Boy's and Girl's only teams, have two off-ice training sessions prior to or following their team practices . 

In the state of Wisconsin WAHA permits the Madison Capitols AAA Hockey Association to offer full season teams starting at the squirt minor or 9o level. We offer co-ed teams until AAA 12u and at that age we split into boy's only & girl's only teams that continue through our boy's 18u and our Girl's 19u. We field full teams teams at all age levels of competition offered by USA hockey to compete to play in the Tier 1 USA Hockey National Championships.

Ages/Levels under USA Hockey & WAHA competition; AAA 9o, AAA 10u, AAA 11u, AAA 12u, Girl's 12u, Boy's 13o, Boy's 14u, Girl's 14u, Boy's 15o, Boy's 16u, Girl's 16u, Boy's 18u and Girl's 19u.

PLAYER CHECK-IN

Check-in will take place in the main lobby of the arena. Each participant will receive a numbered jersey or jersey pinnie when they check-in. Check-in is required only on the first day of tryouts. Players should wear the same color jersey (and number) for both tryout sessions. At the end of their second tryout session, the coaches will collect the jerseys.

• Parents will not be allowed inside either rink during any on-ice tryout sessions. If your skater needs help with their gear, you can definitely assist them. We ask that as soon as you're finished you return to the lobby or exit the arena. THANK YOU for your cooperation!
